The Cameron Park Zoo is calling on volunteers and nature lovers to roll up their sleeves and help preserve one of Waco’s most treasured outdoor spaces. On Friday, September 27th, from 8 to 11am, zoo staff will host a park clean-up event at the Mouth of the Bosque in Cameron Park. This is a site the zoo has proudly adopted as part of its commitment to environmental stewardship.

This hands-on effort is part of the zoo’s ongoing mission to protect and beautify the park that shares its name. Volunteers will meet in the parking lot of the Mouth of the Bosque, where they’ll be provided with trash bags and access to a weigh station to track the amount of waste collected. Special attention will be given to recycling aluminum cans, ensuring that the cleanup is both effective and eco-conscious.

What to Bring:

  • Shoes you don’t mind getting muddy or wet
  • Gardening gloves (especially helpful if broken glass is encountered)
  • Water to stay hydrated
  • A positive attitude and excitement for making a difference

The zoo will supply everything else needed for the cleanup and there is no registration required.

This event offers a meaningful way to connect with nature and contribute to a cleaner, healthier park. For more details, visit the Cameron Park Zoo event page.
