Residents in select areas of Harker Heights are being urged to take precautionary measures following a water main break that may have disrupted service and compromised water quality. The affected zones include:
- All of Mesa Oaks Circle
- 3300 through 3400 Oakridge Blvd.
According to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), reduced pressure in the distribution system has triggered a mandatory Boil Water Notice for these locations. The City of Harker Heights is advising all impacted customers to boil water before using it for any consumption-related activities, including drinking, brushing teeth, washing hands or face, and preparing food.
Children, seniors, and individuals with weakened immune systems are especially vulnerable to waterborne bacteria. To ensure safety:
- Bring water to a vigorous rolling boil for two full minutes before use.
- Alternatively, use bottled water or water from a verified safe source.
City officials will notify residents once the water is deemed safe and the boil notice is lifted. That update will be distributed in a manner similar to this announcement.
Please share this notice with others who may not have received it directly—especially those in apartments, schools, nursing homes, and businesses. Posting in public areas or distributing copies by hand or mail is encouraged.
