Texas is turning the tide on wildlife crime—and now, it’s easier than ever for everyday citizens to help protect the land they love. Operation Game Thief (OGT), the state’s long-standing wildlife crime-stoppers program, has launched Tip411, a new mobile app, text line, and online form that empowers Texans to report fishing, wildlife, and boating violations anonymously and instantly.
Whether you’re casting a line in the Hill Country, hiking near the coast, or scrolling your phone from home, reporting suspicious activity now takes just seconds. The free OGT App, available for iOS and Android, lets users submit tips, photos, and videos directly to Texas Game Wardens. You can also text 847411 with the keyword TXOGT, or call 800-792-GAME (4263)—24 hours a day, seven days a week.
“Protecting Texas wildlife and our natural resources is a shared responsibility,” said Col. Ron VanderRoest, TPWD law enforcement director. “This new system makes it easier than ever for the public to speak up and make a difference while staying completely anonymous.”
💰 Rewards of up to $1,000 are available for tips that lead to a conviction. And the impact is real—hundreds of convictions, recovered wildlife, and disrupted illegal trade operations have stemmed from citizen reports.
Since its founding in 1981, OGT has paid out nearly $195,000 in rewards and helped secure more than 600 convictions. Texans who report violations help uphold a legacy of conservation and ensure future generations can enjoy the state’s natural heritage.
