Residents in several neighborhoods across Killeen are being advised to boil their water before use following a scheduled water service interruption tied to ongoing infrastructure upgrades.
As part of the Gilmer Street roadway reconstruction project, contractors are working to connect a new 6-inch water main to existing cross streets. This essential maintenance has required a temporary shutdown of water services for the following addresses:
- 715 & 814 N. Gilmer St. (Apartments and Church)
- 601–716, 803–911 W. Green Ave.
- 807 & 812 Henderson St. (812 includes Apartments)
- 500 W. Rancier Ave. (Apartments)
- 809 Root Ave.
Water services were scheduled to be turned off at approximately 7:30 a.m., on August 21st with restoration expected by 5:00 p.m. the same day. Once service resumes, a Boil Water Notice will remain in effect for all affected addresses.
Residents are urged to boil all water intended for drinking, cooking, or ice-making until water quality testing confirms the absence of contamination. Water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil for at least two minutes before use. Alternatively, bottled water or other safe sources may be used.
Water samples will be collected the day after service restoration, with results expected within 24 to 48 hours. The City of Killeen will issue a public update once the notice is lifted.
For updates, residents can visit the City of Killeen website or call the Boil Water Notice Hotline at (254) 501-6515. Questions may also be directed to the Water & Sewer Services Help Line at (254) 501-6319.
