This August, the National Museum of the Pacific War (NMPW) invites families, students, and history enthusiasts to take part in a series of powerful programs designed to educate, commemorate, and connect. From hands-on learning for homeschoolers to solemn reflection on the 80th anniversary of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the museum’s offerings promise meaningful engagement with World War II history.
Homeschool Day: WWII and 20th-Century Learning for All Ages

- Admission: $5 per student
Families seeking to enrich their homeschool curriculum are encouraged to attend this quarterly event. Students will explore WWII through history, anthropology, and technology with interactive lessons, crafts, worksheets, and access to authentic artifacts. Space is limited, so pre-registration is recommended.
Hiroshima and Nagasaki Commemoration: Honoring the 80th Anniversary

On the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombings, the museum will host a public commemoration to honor those affected and reflect on the global impact of warfare. The event includes exhibits, interpretive programs, and a special edition of the museum’s Outpost series focused on the Manhattan Project. Living History reenactors from Company K will guide visitors through the scientific and human stories behind this pivotal moment in history.
