The City of Killeen’s Public Works Transportation Division has announced a partial closure of Mandalay Drive at Tropicana Drive beginning Tuesday, August 5th at 7am, continuing through Friday, August 15 at 3:30pm. The closure is part of a scheduled drainage system installation aimed at improving roadway safety and long-term infrastructure resilience.

Motorists traveling through the area should expect traffic control devices guiding vehicles around the work zone. Drivers are urged to use caution, obey posted signage, and consider alternate routes during the construction period. The city emphasizes that compliance with traffic controls is essential for the safety of both workers and the public.
“We appreciate the community’s patience as we complete this important upgrade,” said a spokesperson from the Transportation Division. “While the work may cause temporary inconvenience, the long-term benefits will be worth it.”
All work is weather-dependent, and schedules may shift accordingly. For updates or inquiries, residents can contact the Transportation Office at (254) 616-3153 or email krobbins@killeentexas.gov.
This alert joins a growing list of infrastructure improvements across Killeen, reflecting the city’s commitment to proactive maintenance and public safety.
