Bell County, TX — August 1, 2025, 4:37 PM CDT

The National Weather Service in Fort Worth has issued an urgent Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Central Bell County, including the Temple and Little River-Academy areas. The warning remains in effect until 5:00 PM CDT.

At 4:36 PM, radar detected a severe thunderstorm nearly stationary over Little River-Academy, just outside Temple. The storm is packing 60 mph wind gusts and producing quarter-size hail, posing a serious threat to vehicles, rooftops, siding, and trees.

Areas Impacted:

  • Temple (expected around 4:40 PM)
  • Heidenheimer
  • Interstate 35 between mile markers 292 and 300

What You Should Do:

Residents are urged to seek shelter immediately in a sturdy structure and stay away from windows. The storm’s slow movement increases the risk of prolonged exposure to damaging winds and hail.

“Radar indicates this storm has the potential to cause significant damage,” said a spokesperson from the National Weather Service. “We advise all residents in the warning zone to take precautions now.”

This warning comes amid a week of unstable weather patterns across Central Texas. Emergency services are on alert, and residents are encouraged to monitor local broadcasts and weather apps for updates. Stay safe, Bell County—and remember, when thunder roars, go indoors.
