The Killeen Regional Airport (GRK) will undergo scheduled overnight power outages this week as part of a major infrastructure upgrade aimed at enhancing energy sustainability.

The planned outages will take place overnight on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, from midnight until 3:30 a.m. each day. The temporary shutdowns are necessary to connect newly installed solar panels to the airport’s electrical grid—a move that signals the city’s ongoing commitment to clean energy and operational efficiency.

During the outages, the terminal will be without power, though limited work lighting will remain available for construction crews. Outdoor lighting in parking areas may also be affected.

While no service disruptions are expected, officials are advising travelers with early morning flights on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday to arrive early. Airport systems are scheduled to be restored at 3:30 a.m., but staff caution there may be a brief window before full functionality resumes. Personnel will be on-site throughout the restoration to ensure a smooth transition.

The project builds on recent improvements at the airport, including the opening earlier this year of solar-integrated covered parking areas for short-term and rental car users.
