Starting Monday, July 7, Temple residents will see a more efficient and convenient waste collection system. The city is expanding its schedule from four to five days, ensuring that both recycling and garbage are picked up on the same day each week—based on newly assigned collection routes.
This change is designed to streamline operations, improve service efficiency, and simplify scheduling for households and collection crews alike. With clearly designated collection days, residents can plan accordingly, minimizing confusion.
Residents can identify their assigned day using the following color-coded system:
- Purple: Monday Collection
- Red: Tuesday Collection
- Green: Wednesday Collection
- Blue: Thursday Collection
- Yellow: Friday Collection

To further improve service, the city is providing a new route map and updated collection calendar, accessible online at templetx.gov/solidwaste.
- Efficient Pick-Up: Recycling and garbage will now be collected on the same day each week.
- Expanded Routes: A shift to a five-day schedule aims to enhance collection efficiency.
- No Additional Cost: The updated system comes at no extra charge to residents.
- Proper Bin Placement: Recycling and garbage bins should be placed at the curb at least 3 feet apart to ensure safe and effective collection.
Brush and bulk collection days will remain unchanged, though additional resources are being allocated to help address current delays. Residents also have the option to drop off large items at the Solid Waste Complex (2611 E Ave H) Monday through Friday, between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.
