Penn State women’s golfer Jami Morris, a Cleveland native, has been named spring captain of the Allstate NACDA Good Works Team, an honor recognizing student-athletes for their excellence in community service, academics, and athletics.

Morris, known for her leadership both on and off the course, is the founder of Hit Fore Hope, one of Northeast Ohio’s most successful student-run cancer fundraisers. Inspired by her mother’s battle with lymphoma, Morris turned a personal challenge into a mission to help others. Since its inception, Hit Fore Hope has raised over $280,000 to support cancer research, patient care, and family services.

Her dedication to service extends beyond fundraising. Morris actively collaborates with University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center to ensure donations directly benefit critical programs. She also speaks publicly about cancer awareness and encourages young people to take action in their communities.

The Allstate NACDA Good Works Team recognizes 20 student-athletes across NCAA Divisions I, II, III, and NAIA for their commitment to service and leadership. Morris was selected as team captain, a distinction reserved for those who demonstrate exceptional impact beyond the game.

As Morris continues her collegiate golf career, she remains committed to expanding Hit Fore Hope and inspiring others to make a difference. Her story is a testament to the power of student-athlete leadership and the lasting impact of service.

ESPN reporter Holly Rowe, an ambassador for the Good Works Team, praised Morris for her ability to turn adversity into action. “What Jami has accomplished with Hit Fore Hope is truly inspiring,” Rowe said. “She’s proof of what happens when a community comes together with purpose”.

Holly took time away from her busy schedule where she is covering the Women’s College World Series to talk about Jami and the Allstate NACDA Good Works Team. We also talk about the Longhorns returning to the Women’s College World Series and how we can use this event to elevate the visibility of women’s sports and all of the great work these student-athletes are doing off the field.

We also discuss storylines that fans should be watching this year and how the student athlete experience has evolved over the course of her career and especially for women. Tune in this afternoon at 5:15 p.m. to hear our interview.
