Cedar Park has solidified its place as a hub for musical talent and economic growth with its recent designation as a Music Friendly Texas Certified Community by the Texas Music Office (TMO). This prestigious recognition highlights the city’s commitment to cultivating a vibrant local music industry, benefiting both artists and the broader community.

Governor Greg Abbott praised Cedar Park’s achievement, underscoring the role of music in shaping Texas culture. “Music is key to the Texas brand and is deeply rooted in the cultural traditions of our great state,” Abbott said. “Music Friendly Texas Communities work tirelessly to attract and develop the local music industry to boost local job creation and economic growth.”

With Texas’s music industry generating over $31 billion in annual economic activity and supporting 196,000 direct and indirect permanent jobs, Cedar Park’s new designation places it among more than 80 cities statewide committed to fostering creative talent.

Local leaders also applauded Cedar Park’s commitment to music-driven economic growth. Senator Pete Flores called the designation an affirmation of the city’s dedication to supporting musicians and driving job creation. Representative Ellen Troxclair echoed the sentiment, recognizing Cedar Park’s diverse venues, musicians, and opportunities for live performance.

Mayor Jim Penniman-Morin celebrated the milestone, stating, “This recognition highlights our commitment to fostering a vibrant music culture and supporting the talented artists who enrich our diverse community.”

The city’s Music Friendly Texas Community Certification Ceremony will take place on Friday, May 2, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. during the Live @ Lakeline Concert Series at Lakeline Park. The event, co-hosted by TMO and Cedar Park officials, will feature city leaders and members of the Governor’s Texas Economic Development & Tourism Office.

Since 2016, the Texas Music Office has spearheaded the Music Friendly Texas program, the first statewide initiative of its kind in the nation. The program helps Texas cities promote economic opportunities, attract artists and music businesses, and develop industry infrastructure.
