In the face of an escalating humanitarian crisis, Elton John and Brandi Carlile have joined forces to combat the devastating impact of funding cuts to HIV/AIDS services in the United States. On Wednesday, the Elton John AIDS Foundation and Looking Out Foundation launched the “Who Believes In Angels?” Campaign, an initiative aimed at restoring critical HIV care worldwide.

The campaign follows the termination of USAID support, which has left countless clinics struggling to maintain essential services. Through the Rocket Response Fund, this emergency effort will reopen clinics, restore access to life-saving medications, and maintain vital prevention programs, ensuring continued care for those at risk.

“Without prompt action, decades of progress in the global fight against HIV could be reversed,” said Elton John, founder of the Elton John AIDS Foundation. “Our mission is more important than ever—we refuse to leave anyone behind.”

The impact of international HIV/AIDS funding has been profound, significantly reducing new transmissions and fatalities across the globe. However, recent projections from The Lancet HIV estimate 10.8 million additional HIV cases and 2.9 million HIV-related deaths by 2030 if financial support continues to decline. With multiple countries considering aid reductions, the stakes have never been higher.

For Brandi Carlile, the initiative holds deep personal meaning. “It was a lifelong dream to create our album ‘Who Believes In Angels?’ together, and now we’re making our music mean even more,” said Carlile. “Elton’s activism led me to him before I even heard his music. This partnership is an honor, and the timing couldn’t be more urgent.”

The Looking Out Foundation, founded by Carlile in 2008, is dedicated to amplifying voices often unheard, with campaigns supporting children in war zones, youth incarceration prevention, and advocacy for survivors of sexual violence. Meanwhile, the Elton John AIDS Foundation, established in 1992, continues its mission to end the AIDS epidemic by funding experts across four continents and influencing governments to prioritize HIV care.

Community support is critical to the success of the “Who Believes In Angels?” Campaign, and donations can be made via the Looking Out Foundation. By uniting music and activism, Elton John and Brandi Carlile hope to ensure that access to HIV care remains a priority, protecting lives across the globe.
