Copperas Cove Independent School District is making significant strides in enhancing both student experiences and employee benefits through a series of strategic investments.

During the latest Board of Trustees meeting, members unanimously approved the purchase of a Ford F-250 pickup truck for Copperas Cove High School’s Agricultural Sciences program, marking a major boost for Career & Technical Education. Superintendent Dr. Brent Hawkins highlighted the importance of this acquisition, stating that a dedicated vehicle will facilitate student learning opportunities while streamlining supply transportation and project management efforts.

Beyond student enrichment, the Board also approved a transition in employee benefits processing to The Baldwin Group, following a thorough evaluation of multiple providers. Hawkins expressed confidence in the move, emphasizing that the switch will create a more positive and seamless enrollment experience for district employees seeking health, dental, vision, and retirement benefits.

The Board also unveiled ambitious goals for the 2025-2026 school year that will guide district priorities and serve as key benchmarks for Hawkins’ annual evaluation.

  • Student Success: The district set targets for increasing 3rd-grade STAAR scores in reading and math while raising graduation rates that meet College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) standards.
  • Expanding Educational Opportunities: The district aims to re-establish elementary art programs, explore STEM, fine arts, Montessori, and dual language programs, and expand Career & Technical Education pathways such as internships, dual credit, and P-TECH initiatives.
  • Operational Stewardship: Trustees reaffirmed their commitment to responsible fiscal management, pledging to monitor spending, optimize resource allocation, and evaluate current facilities to ensure effective use of district space while planning for potential renovations or new construction.
  • Community Engagement: The district plans to strengthen communication and transparency with students, staff, and the broader community, utilizing multiple outreach channels to share updates on district achievements and initiatives.
