Spring Yard Trimmings Recycling Returns to Cedar Park
Residents looking to dispose of yard waste responsibly can take advantage of Spring Yard Trimmings Recycling, happening from March 31 to May 9, 2025. This seasonal program allows homeowners to recycle yard trimmings separately from regular trash, helping to reduce landfill waste while maintaining clean and sustainable disposal practices.
Accepted Yard Trimmings Guidelines
During the designated recycling period, leaves and grass clippings must be placed in brown paper yard waste bags, separate from trash cans and bulk items. Plastic bags are not permitted, as they cannot be recycled and will instead be sent to the landfill. Additionally, wet bags will not be picked up due to weight concerns and risk of breakage.

Tree and Shrub Trimmings Requirements
Residents can also recycle tree and shrub trimmings, provided they meet specific size and bundling requirements:
- Each trimming must be no longer than 4 feet and no wider than 4 inches in diameter.
- Bundles must weigh no more than 40 pounds and must be tied securely with rope or twine.
- Yard trimmings do not count toward the bulk item limit during this recycling period, allowing residents to dispose of additional yard waste without exceeding standard trash limits.

Yard Waste Collection Details
Outside of the designated yard trimmings recycling timeframe, yard waste will be collected as regular trash and sent to the landfill. However, officials encourage residents to take advantage of the program during spring and fall recycling periods to maximize environmental benefits.
Pickup Schedule and Placement
- Yard trimmings will be collected weekly from March 31 to May 9.
- As with regular trash, items must be set out by 7 a.m. on designated pickup days.
- Proper placement is required to ensure efficient collection and processing.
For more information about the yard trimmings recycling program, including detailed pickup instructions, residents can visit the City’s website. By participating in the program, residents contribute to the city’s sustainability efforts while keeping their neighborhoods clean and well-maintained.
