Copperas Cove Schools Earn Recognition in U.S. News & World Report Rankings

Five elementary schools in Copperas Cove have been recognized in the U.S. News & World Report’s Best Elementary School rankings for 2025. Each of these campuses also earned a spot on the list in 2024, highlighting their consistent performance.

Among the schools, House Creek Elementary received the highest placement, ranking 367th out of more than 6,000 elementary schools in Texas. The school, previously recognized as Copperas Cove’s first National Blue Ribbon School, saw 68% of its students at or above proficient levels in both math and reading.

Martin Walker Elementary ranked 898th, with 52% of students achieving proficiency or higher in math and 64% in reading. Fairview/Miss Jewell Elementary followed at 1,124th, where 47% of students met proficiency benchmarks in math and 57% in reading.

Hettie Halstead Elementary secured the 1,673rd spot, recording 47% proficiency or better in math and 52% in reading. Clements/Parsons Elementary rounded out the rankings at 1,716th, with 50% of students proficient or better in math and 52% in reading.

Copperas Cove Independent School District Superintendent Dr. Brent Hawkins praised the achievement, emphasizing the dedication of teachers, administrators, and students in maintaining excellence across these campuses.

The U.S. News & World Report rankings assess schools based on state-required test performance, graduation rates, and preparation for high school, with a particular focus on proficiency in reading and math.
