Killeen Police Department Hosts Event to Honor Victims and Survivors of Violent Crime

The Killeen Police Department will commemorate National Crime Victims’ Rights Week by hosting a community event to honor victims and survivors of violent crime. The event will take place on Monday, April 7, 2025, from 1 PM to 2 PM at the Killeen Police Department, located at 3304 Community Blvd, Killeen, TX.

National Crime Victims’ Rights Week (NCVRW) is an annual observance dedicated to honoring victims and survivors of crime while raising awareness about their rights and the services available to them. Established in 1981, NCVRW serves as a platform to reflect on the progress made in the victims’ rights movement and to confront barriers that still exist in achieving justice for all victims.

The week also highlights the importance of community support and advocacy, encouraging individuals and organizations to stand in solidarity with those affected by crime. Events during NCVRW often include ceremonies, educational programs, and outreach initiatives aimed at fostering healing and connection.

This year’s theme, “Connecting <KINSHIP> Healing,” emphasizes the shared humanity that drives vital connections to services, rights, and recovery for victims and survivors. It underscores the role of compassion and advocacy in building a supportive environment for those impacted by crime.

As part of the observance, ribbons will be hung in recognition of those affected by violent crime. The event aims to bring the community together in a show of support and solidarity while raising awareness about the impact of violent crime on individuals and families.

The Killeen Police Department encourages residents to participate in this meaningful occasion to remember and honor victims and survivors, reflecting a shared commitment to compassion and justice.
