Astound Initiates Next Phase of Fiber Installation Project

Astound has entered the next phase of its ongoing fiber installation project within the City. This latest phase will impact areas designated by a boundary marked in gold on the provided map. The order of construction is determined by individual utility companies and is not strictly sequential geographically or numerically.

As a reminder, fiber installation in the City is managed by independent utilities, such as Oncor and Atmos, and not contracted by the City. Currently, eight fiber companies hold permits to operate within the City’s public utility easements and street rights-of-way. The City does not oversee the timelines or the contractors for these projects. Construction by Astound and other providers is expected to continue in various locations across the City through the end of 2026.

Residents in affected areas will notice flags placed in their yards marking underground utility lines. These flags are crucial for worker safety and to minimize disruptions to existing services and should not be removed. Astound’s construction activity will occur within public rights-of-way or utility easements, which may be located in front yards, backyards, or side yards. Some of the work will involve underground installations, while other components will be above ground.

To facilitate access to backyard utility easements, Astound may request permission to enter through gates rather than removing fencing. Residents in neighborhoods scheduled for construction will receive door hangers with pertinent information.
