Yvonne Elliman, born on December 29, 1951, in Honolulu, Hawaii, is a celebrated singer, songwriter, and actress whose career spans decades. Known for her versatile voice and captivating performances, Elliman first gained recognition in the early 1970s as part of the original cast of the rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar. Her portrayal of Mary Magdalene in the stage production, as well as the 1973 film adaptation, earned her widespread acclaim and a Golden Globe nomination.
Elliman’s music career flourished with hits like “I Don’t Know How to Love Him” from Jesus Christ Superstar and her chart-topping single “If I Can’t Have You,” written by the Bee Gees for the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack. The latter became a global sensation, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and solidifying her place in pop and disco history.

In addition to her solo success, Elliman collaborated with renowned artists, including Eric Clapton, for whom she provided backing vocals on hits like “I Shot the Sheriff.” Her ability to seamlessly transition between genres, from Broadway to disco and pop, showcases her remarkable adaptability and talent.
