
Carrie Ellis Appointed Chief of Police for Central Texas College
Killeen, TX – Central Texas College has announced the appointment of Carrie Ellis as its new Chief of Police following an extensive recruitment and interview process. A native of Fort Worth, Texas, Chief Ellis brings a wealth of experience and a distinguished career in law enforcement to her new role.
Chief Ellis began her law enforcement journey at the Tarrant County College Police Academy, graduating in 1993. She then dedicated over 21 years to the City of Corinth, where she served in various capacities including patrol officer, school resource officer, criminal investigator, corporal, and lieutenant. Her exemplary service earned her the titles of Officer of the Year in 2001 and Supervisor of the Year in 2009.
After retiring from the Corinth Police Department in 2016, Chief Ellis continued her commitment to public service. In 2017, she made history as the first female Chief of Police for the City of Willow Park. During her tenure, she led the department to achieve accreditation from the Texas Police Chiefs Association in 2020.
Expressing her enthusiasm for her new position, Chief Ellis stated, “I am thrilled to join Central Texas College as the chief of police. I look forward to building on existing successes and leading the agency to additional levels of excellence. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the students, faculty, and staff of Central Texas College and to create and foster relationships essential to success.”
Chief Ellis holds a Master of Public Administration from The University of Texas at Arlington, a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences in Multidisciplinary Studies from Midwestern State University, and an Associate in Arts from Tarrant County College. She is also a graduate of the Institute for Law Enforcement Administration’s School of Police Supervision and the Bill Blackwood Leadership Command College.
In addition to her academic achievements, Chief Ellis is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Central Texas Area Chiefs of Police and Sheriffs’ Association, the Texas Police Chiefs Association, and the International Association of Chiefs of Police. She currently serves as the Second Vice President of the Texas Police Chiefs Association and is a member of the Police Administration Committee for the International Association of Chiefs of Police.
