Central Texas College to Host Annual Math Appreciation Day

Central Texas College (CTC) is gearing up for its annual Math Appreciation Day, set to take place on Thursday, April 24, 2025. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Planetarium rotunda, offering a variety of engaging activities designed to celebrate the beauty and excitement of mathematics.

Attendees can look forward to a lively atmosphere with a DJ, games, puzzles, an escape room, origami, and a scavenger hunt. A special Planetarium show is scheduled for 9:30 a.m., providing an educational and entertaining experience for all.

This year’s event features a distinguished guest speaker, CTC graduate Scott Gosnell, who currently works as an engineer at Los Alamos on top-secret government projects. From 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., Scott will share his inspiring journey, discussing his career path, his current work (focusing on unclassified material), and offering valuable advice on how students can pursue similar careers. A Q&A session will follow, giving attendees the opportunity to engage in individual conversations with Scott.

The excitement continues in the afternoon with Math Jeopardy, taking place from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Planetarium rotunda. Four teams of four participants, who have signed up earlier in the day, will compete in this fun and challenging game. Prizes will be awarded to the winners of the escape room, scavenger hunt, and Math Jeopardy.

Math Appreciation Day at CTC promises to be a fun and inspiring celebration of mathematics, offering something for everyone. Don’t miss out on this exciting event!
