A New Recreational Gem
The City of Cedar Park announced the grand opening of the much-anticipated Brushy Creek North Fork Trail. This milestone marks the culmination of a multi-year project that has brought together various partners and the community to create a scenic and recreational asset for Cedar Park residents and visitors.
The Brushy Creek North Fork Trail spans approximately three miles, starting near West Parmer Lane (FM 734) and East Whitestone Boulevard (RM 1431). The trail features an 8-foot to 10-foot-wide concrete shared-use path along the north fork of Brushy Creek Road. Extending south, it connects to the existing Brushy Creek Regional Trail near Brushy Creek Road, integrating into the larger regional trail system. The project received partial funding from a federal grant, with assistance from the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO), Community Development Corporation Type B Board, and 2022 General Obligation Bond funds.
The development of the Brushy Creek North Fork Trail has been a collaborative effort between the City of Cedar Park and numerous partners, including federal and state representatives, Cedar Park elected officials, the Type B Community Development Board, MWM Design Group, Fazzone Construction, and TxDOT. Their unwavering support and contributions over several years have been instrumental in bringing this project to fruition
The Brushy Creek North Fork Trail project began as a recommendation from the PACE Board’s Hike & Bike Subcommittee. It was originally identified in both the 2010 Hike and Bike Trails Master Plan and the 2015 Parks & Open Space Master Plan. These early plans laid the groundwork for the extensive development and community engagement efforts that followed.
Mayor Jim Penniman-Morin expressed gratitude for the collective efforts: “The Brushy Creek North Fork Trail is a testament to what we can achieve when we work together. I want to extend our heartfelt thanks to our federal and state representatives, CAMPO, MWM Design, TxDOT, our dedicated City staff, and the Type B Community Development Board Members for their commitment to this project. Their hard work and determination have made this trail a reality. This trail will enhance our connections to nature and each other for decades to come.”
In addition to the collaborative efforts of our partners, the City of Cedar Park would like to acknowledge the significant public engagement efforts by City staff and the MWM Design Group team. Their dedication to incorporating feedback and input from residents has ensured that the trail meets the needs and desires of the community.
The Brushy Creek North Fork Trail is set to become a cherished part of the Cedar Park community, offering a beautiful space for outdoor recreation and connection with nature.
