ATHENS – The Texas Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame proudly announces the induction of Ann Thomasson-Wilson of Jasper, Texas, and Rick Clunn of Ava, Missouri, into its esteemed class of 2025.
Ann Thomasson-Wilson is a standout in the world of bass fishing. With back-to-back world championships in the late 1980s, Thomasson-Wilson’s career saw her transition from a formidable angler to an innovator in fishing tackle, and later, the revered owner of Ann’s Tackle Shop. Beyond her championships, Ann is celebrated for her enduring influence on many young anglers who’ve passed through her shop’s doors, seeking advice and inspiration for nearly four decades. Her hands-on approach and custom gear designs, like the G-Lock worm hook and “Plum Apple” plastic baits, have left an indelible mark on the fishing community.
Rick Clunn is heralded as one of the greatest professional bass anglers of all time. Residing in Texas for over 50 years, Clunn’s storied career boasts four Bassmaster Classic Championships and numerous accolades across multiple fishing organizations. Clunn’s dedication has inspired a generation of anglers. His work with high school fishing programs and his innovations in seasonal pattern fishing have solidified his place in the annals of fishing history.
The Texas Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame, located at the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center in Athens, honors those who have made lasting contributions to freshwater fishing in Texas. Thomasson-Wilson and Clunn will be celebrated as the 40th and 41st inductees during a ceremony in October. Their stories serve as a reminder of the profound impact passionate individuals can have in the world of fishing and beyond.
