Now I am going to preface this by reminding you that no matter where you go, you can take KNCT with you. On your stereo in your car or kitchen, in your headphones while you are at the grocery store, or by playing us on your Alexa in the garage. Let us be the soundtrack of your life. And the only way you can guarantee that we will always be around is by making a donation to the station.

Night Market
Tonight is the last night to join the City of Killeen for music, food truck, local artisans and more. Every Friday evening since September 22nd, the city has opened up their historic downtown area on 4th Street. Because of bad weather, they had to cancel last week’s event. This week’s special theme is “Dog Day,” so bring your favorite puppy out at 6pm.
Speaking of Puppies
- Killeen Animal Services introduced their #PetsOfTheWeek!
- 🐶 #DogOfTheWeek is Speckles. She is an American Foxhound mix that has been at the shelter for over a month. Speckles loves squeaky toys and wants to know if it is too early to break out the Christmas toys? She loves scratches and playing tug of war.
- 🐱 Our #CatOfTheWeek is Jian! She is a 3-year-old domestic short hair that has been at the Killeen Animal Shelter for two weeks. Jian may come off as shy, but she is a love bug who enjoys tons of pets, scratches, and cuddles. If you have a place for Jian, stop by the Killeen Animal Shelter to give her some cuddles!

Free Admission to Texas State Parks on Sunday
“Texas Parks and Wildlife Department wants to continue to connect everyone to our beautiful parklands and we hope that Texas State Parks Day will give someone new the opportunity to discover what makes our state parks special,” said Rodney Franklin, State Parks Division Director. “This centennial has highlighted the work that past and current staff have accomplished in the last 100 years to make parks welcoming places for all visitors. We hope that folks take advantage of the opportunity to see these unique pieces of Texas this weekend and for the next 100 years.”
Texas has more than 80 parks throughout the state to offer a wide variety of outdoor day-use activities such as wildlife watching, walking or hiking, park programs, camping, biking swimming, paddleboarding and many more. Visit the TPWD website for a list of activities and events in a park near you.
Lampasas
On Saturday, November 4, Richard Harrison will be performing at the library and sharing some stories along the way.
Richard began playing guitar at age 15. He was introduced to classical music through his grandmother, who loved the Spanish guitar, particularly the playing of Andres Segovia. In 1995, Richard graduated from the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, CA, where he studied with classical guitarist David Oakes and had private lessons with William Kanengiser, professor of guitar at USC. Richard then returned to the Houston area, where he taught music and performed locally.
Richard married Lucilla Martinez in 2005, and soon after, they relocated to Lampasas, where Lucilla grew up and attended school.
In addition to playing classical guitar, he enjoys playing flamenco, jazz, and world music.
